Southern Miss offers a nationally accredited Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance in performance and choreography and in dance education in a growing and vigorous atmosphere. We believe in rigorous training that prepares the artist/educator for the professional field. The dance program currently has approximately 75 undergraduate dance majors. There are seven full-time faculty in dance. Candidate will be capable of collaborating with faculty in departmental curricular activities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching dance techniques at the undergraduate level, dance appreciation and one or more of the following: dance history, introduction to dance education, composition, choreography, dance production. Candidate must be committed to training and mentoring young artists and to developing excellence in teaching.
Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) and ability to teach dance techniques, including all modern/contemporary and ballet, and at least two of the following: dance history, pedagogy, composition, choreography, dance production;ability to work effectively with diverse groups of majors and non-majors.
Teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
