Job Summary
This
position is responsible for the setup, testing, and maintenance of the SACR
tables which contain the Academic Program, Academic Plan, and Academic Sub-Plan
Codes used for student majors and minors. Prepares, develops and analyzes
university related statistical data concerning student, course, employee, and
university matters from internal and external sources. The position is also
responsible for validating university business processes to ensure the highest
data integrity.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for setup and
maintenance of the SACR tables related to the Academic Program, Academic
Plan, and Academic Sub-Plan Codes used for student majors and minors
within the University's deployment of PeopleSoft (SOAR). Serve as point of contact for university
academic code questions.
- Serve as data integrity
analyst to ensure university business processes are in alignment with
federal and state regulations along with internal policies and procedures. This includes regular internal data
audits and collaboration with offices that own student, course, and
employee data.
- Collaborate with the Office
of Institutional Effectiveness and Office of Degree Progress Specialists to
ensure academic proposals are in align with SOAR parameters and meet IHL
requirements. This includes
reviewing proposals in Curriculog and attending Undergraduate and Graduate
Council meetings.
- Coordinate the
dissemination and completion of all university wide, external surveys such
as U.S. News, NSF, Common Data Set, salary surveys, etc.
- Responsible for assisting in the preparation, analyzing, and reporting of official data to the Board of Trustees for Institutions of Higher Learning for the State of Mississippi (IHL) and the Federal Government (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System – IPEDS).
- Collaborate within office to complete all ad hoc requests. Develop, maintain, and update queries and reports to fulfill recurring data needs.
- Serve as back-up for setup and maintenance of the Academic Advisement module as related to the Degree Progress Report within the University’s deployment of PeopleSoft (SOAR).
- Performs other duties as
assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or
university in data science, computer programming or related field. Three to five years’ application experience
in data analysis, collection and reporting; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Adept in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to review business processes for accuracy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to process and interpret information received and ask questions as appropriate
- Ability to design SQL queries
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with use of SQL and Peoplesoft; demonstrated data quality control experience; experience working in academia.
