Applications for Adjunct Faculty in the School of Ocean Science and Engineering Division of Marine Science will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed as needed. 

 Job Summary 
Adjunct faculty members within the School of Ocean Science and Engineering Division of Marine Science facilitate student achievement of course objectives and prepares Undergraduate and/or Graduate Students to matriculate through the following School of Ocean Science and Engineering Division of Marine Science programs:  
- Marine Science (B.S.) 
- Marine Science (M.S. & Ph.D.) 
- Ocean Engineering (B.S.) 
- Hydrographic Science – Cat A (M.S.)
- Hydrographic Science – Cat B (B.S.)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Online and/or face-to-face course delivery and instruction
  2. Prepare and submit syllabi, grades and other required course documentation in a timely manner
  3. Communicate course requirements and expectations to students
  4. Follow policies and procedures of the School of Ocean Science & Engineering,  College of Arts and Sciences, and The University of Southern Mississippi
  5. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications 
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in discipline related to assigned course of instruction.
 Preferred Qualifications 
  • Teaching, mentoring and service experience at university level
  • Experience with online course delivery and instruction
  • Professional experience in field related to assigned course of instruction
  • Experience with Canvas learning platform
  • Doctoral degree in related discipline
