The Research Services Fellow is a 3-month
grant-funded position as a member of a team responsible for providing
instruction, general and specialized research assistance, outreach, and
collection development services and reports to the Head of Public Services. Opportunities
for Research Services Fellows may include delivery of live and asynchronous
information literacy instruction, in-depth research consultations, and basic
reference assistance at a service desk, as well as participation in collection
development. Fellows will have opportunities to use the LibApps platform from
Springshare, including LibGuides, LibAnswers, and LibInsight, as well as the
Primo discovery service and Alma library management system from Ex Libris.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities 1. Provides instruction in
the use of research resources through course-integrated instruction and
drop-in workshops presented in person and online. Creates and maintains
online tutorials and other instructional tools in assigned areas.
2. Provides research
assistance through individual research consultations, as well as providing
reference and directional assistance to library users in person, by
telephone, and via electronic communication methods. Creates and maintains
online guides (e.g., LibGuides) and other research tools in assigned
areas. Working evenings, weekends, and holidays in rotation with other
Research Services Unit personnel may be required.
3. Contributes to collection
development for assigned areas. This may include resource selection or
